Role Description

Reporting to the Supervisor Crude Oil Accounting, as the Advisor Crude Oil Marketing Accounting you will be a part of a team responsible for functions which involve accounting, settlements, reporting, financial controls, as well as continuous improvement in processes. This position supports Enbridge’s crude/NGL trading activities at Tidal Energy Marketing.

  • Efficiently support the Crude Oil commodity invoicing and settlement process, which includes entry of tariffs, shipper balance volumes, and other relevant information into systems (Egistix & Oracle Cloud).
  • Liaise with Front Office trading/marketing staff to ensure accuracy of commodity settlement amounts and financial results.
  • Work with Technology partners to problem tackle and develop effective technology-based solutions to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Perform actuals to estimates variance analysis.
  • Prepare, verify, and input journal entries.
  • Analysis and verification of revenue, cost of sales, margins, and inventory valuation.
  • Assist with development, documentation, and effective operation of financial controls.
  • Liaise with customers to ensure timely and accurate settlement of commodity (crude oil) transactions.
  • Support our team when facing tight timelines.

Qualifications

  • University degree in a related financial discipline.
  • 4 or more years of relevant working experience in a financial environment.
  • Ability to think “outside the box” to propose, develop, and implement technology-based process efficiencies and relevant reporting solutions.
  • Acumen for technology/systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex Front Office processes and Corporate Office relationships.
  • Effective communicator who can develop collaborative working relationships with internal/external customers.
  • A solid understanding of complex financial system applications preferably with previous experience with Oracle Cloud, Smartview, HFM, Power BI, Egistix, OpenLink/Endur.
  • MS Excel (with the ability to analyze large volumes of data using functionalities, such as, Pivot Tables, Index, Match, VLOOKUP, Logical functions, etc.), and Proficient in Power BI (build intermediate-level Power BI reports) is a plus.
  • A professional accounting designation (CPA), or in the process of acquiring is preferred but not required.

Requirements

  • High degree of coordination necessary within immediate Accounting Team, as well as with Front office (traders), and external counterparties.
  • Dynamic commodity trading working environment involving Front Office, Middle Office and Back Office.
  • Deadline driven with competing priorities, often necessitating flexible working hours.
  • Business Unit (Tidal Energy Marketing) within a large/company.
  • Open-concept office.
