The Senior IT Project Manager is accountable for the end-to-end delivery of complex IT projects, leveraging established methodologies and best practices. This role oversees all phases of the project lifecycle, ensuring solutions are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business objectives. Responsibilities include risk management, resource coordination, and stakeholder engagement. The Senior IT Project Manager may lead multiple medium-sized projects or a single high-complexity initiative that impacts multiple business units and critical IT functions. This role focuses on driving IT initiatives that support key growth priorities for the organization

Specifically You Will:

Provide leadership for one or more complex, high-impact retail technology projects, utilizing established project lifecycle methodologies and best practices.
Balance and manage stakeholder expectations regarding project scope, schedule, budget, and risk, proactively identifying and mitigating potential issues.
Ensure project objectives align with Staples' overall business strategy and IT technology vision.
Develop, maintain, and execute comprehensive project plans that deliver expected results.
Lead and collaborate with virtual, cross-functional teams, including IT, business, and third-party partners, fostering alignment and promoting Staples' values.
Identify, manage, and coordinate project resources, ensuring clear roles, responsibilities, and accountability.
Mentor and guide project team members to develop their skills and capabilities, promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
Communicate project status, risks, issues, and changes effectively to all relevant stakeholders.
Oversee project financials, including cost estimates, forecasts, and monitoring actual spend against budget.
Facilitate adherence to contractual agreements, including Statements of Work and legal/contract requirements.
Contribute to the continuous development of project management capabilities within IT, including process improvements and best

Some of What You Need:

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent (MBA an asset)
  • PMP certification required
  • Strong background running multiple projects and programs, with enterprise level scope
  • Experienced leading direct and indirect teams, ensuring targets are met and exceptional delivery
  • Strong analytical, data-driven decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong financial acumen, with prior experience in creating "Level of Efforts" (LOE) and Business Cases
  • Ability to navigate large organizations and develop strong business partner relationships.
  • Outstanding influencing, communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to foster a positive and motivating work environment, encouraging feedback and innovation.
  • Self-starter, high-energy, with ability to execute on business objectives.
  • 7+ years of experience in an IT organization required with demonstrated track record of delivering projects
  • Demonstrated success in working within cross functional teams and effective project management and analytical/decision-making skills
