Join EY and help to build a better working world. **The opportunity** Within our talented and dynamic Insurance and Actuarial Advisory Services (IAAS) group, the Senior Actuarial Consultant will work on multiple client engagement teams that perform actuarial audit work, valuation and pricing analysis, model building and validation, cash flow testing, and many other related life insurance actuarial projects. You will also receive on-the-job training to acquire practical experience in addressing technical/business issues and in applying industry expertise and EY policies/procedures on client engagements. Here, you’ll be right at the heart of that mission, leading engagement teams, working directly with clients, mentoring and developing team members and building your personal brand as a leader in your field. **Your key responsibilities** * Applying their actuarial knowledge and experience in life and health insurance to enable the delivery of actuarial and broader insurance projects. This may include model validation, peer review, audit, pricing, due diligence and numerous other projects. * Developing individual capabilities: expanding the breadth of one’s personal knowledge and capabilities, monitoring developments in life insurance actuarial practice, mentoring more junior members of the team and sharing knowledge and insights with other members of the team * Developing actuarial models for clients or for use in the delivery of projects for clients. * Working on their own or as part of a larger team, the actuarial modeller will be responsible for building, converting and/or validating AXIS models. * Contributing to team success: peer review, sharing knowledge and insights, being proactive and assertive, mentoring junior members of staff. * The successful candidate must be willing and able to travel, when necessary. **Skills and attributes for success** * Strong oral and written communication skills * Strong conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills * Strong collaboration, interpersonal and client-service skills **To qualify for the role you must have** * 2+ years of experience working in an actuarial position within the life insurance industry * 2+ years relevant experience in the measurement of insurance contract liabilities and/or financial modelling * ASA/ACIA designation or being in the process of obtaining the designation * Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining various actuarial models. Knowledge of other software including AXIS or Python would be an asset. * Demonstrated knowledge and experience in best practices in model development. * Excellent interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills, in English and French (Québec and Montréal offices) **Ideally, you'll also have** * Security clearance This role involves interaction with clients operating nationally and globally where fluency in French and English is required.
